Quick Share – Count on You, Bruno Mars

Standard

Just downloaded the application of WordPress, then gave it a try. This is just a quick post, hope it is not so bad.

I am now listening “Count on me” by Bruno Mars. This Putero Rican- Filipino mixed singer was one of the top nominees with Adele in the Grammys, likewise, shared the most views from men, like “Grenade”.

I personally like the melody, which the arrangment is very similar to “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele – quiet with the opening, expressing thw most memorable feeling, then getting to the point, and the feeling is getting stronger and powerful. Certainly the melody is very mysteric like, that richens the dark side of the feeling and makes the whole song very narrative – opening, process, end.

Something funny happens to this song is about the lyrics. It is perfect to apply either man to woman or woman to man. Relationships do like a grenade, I can’t agree no more.

Queen of Soul

Another year older, which changed my taste of music as well; from very exterior layer to deepest inside with the knowledge of music.

A god-mother of Houston, Ms Aretha Franklin is my leading role this time.

There is nothing offensive or any discrimination to any people with any color of skin, but I really want to vote for the Negro’s music. They are very inspired, talented, touched and the most important thing in their music is their heart. “Negro” the term was a hot pick headline in the 60s’. A movie also a musical Hairspray” demonstrated the music direction in the 60s. That was their showtime with brilliant descriptive performances in any kind of music. Soul, R&B, Blue were just part of it. It was not the music leading them to live, it’s, they led the music to carry on to another page.

Franklin brought most of the popular songs among the people, the industries and the restaurants as well. Her music is still being imitated and learnt from; which is a very functional blue print for anyone in the music business. In the 80s, Franklin became the role model for Houston; she bcame a role model again for Joss Stone, Alicia Keys  in the late 90s. Besides, her music represents the women, for most of the time, songs like “Respect” *REMARK 1 , “(You make me feel like) A Natural Woman” etc.

Older I am, my age of music is getting older too. But what I believe is, as long as the pitch I have feel with, then that’s what I need.

Remark 1: “Respect” was originally written and sung by Mr. Otis Redding in 1965. Ms Franklin covered it in 1967 with biggest success, and it became the icon of Franklin’s music afterwards.

Fusion the Music

We always think about Hollywood for many film markings. For this century, Titanic theme song “My heart will go on” performed by Celine Dion should be the most well-known one. It recalls many audiences’ memories on the whole scene of Jack and Rose on the cruise, how Jack saved Rose on the deck, “I am the King of the world” said Jack, and how Rose let Jack go in a freezing ocean to help her life go on for Jack. So a script, the actors are not the only elements putting a film to the top. Bollywood films are kind of it.

“Jai Ho” means to win, theme song from Best Picture in Oscar 2009 Slumdog Millionaire, reminds us many scene from the film, how Jamal runs around the slum and how he meets his girlfriend again. As a Best Original Song in 81st Academy Awards, it should not really mean a song, it means to tell the whole story line of a film without any motions. A theme song draws the full picture of a film, delivers the message of the film. It makes the song itself and the film itself very remarkable and unforgettale.

Recommendation to you all,

“Chak de India” plays a role not only a theme song to the film Chak de India, it does not only remind me how Shahrukh Khan (some say he is Indian-Andy Lau) acted as a very harsh but with a caring heart coach to the National Woman’s Team of field hockey, but definitely a tribute to the country, India on every side of business. The arrangement of the theme song is very supportive and encouraging to all different aspects. It is always sensitive and controversial if any political issues and anything related to the country contain in a public production – song or film. But “Chak de India” in a way is very successful, as at least, “Chak de India” is simply the best phrase to the country – Go for it! India!

So, besides the traditional music, India music is now very modern and international. Even The Pussycat Dolls covered “Jai Ho” in English version. And A.R. Rahman as the man behind many No. 1 songs of Bollywood films, winner of the Grammys and the Academy, he is one of the bandmates of SuperHeavy (co-works with Joss Stone, Mike Jagger, Dave Stewart, Damian “Jr Gong” Marley), an American based band. Rahman has put the Indian music ingredients to the songs. You see, music has no boundary, but to tell you what the words is, who the people are.

Rolling in Someone Like Adele

Standard

I want to skip the bad news happened on last weekend.

One of the highest pitch-performer left without a word.

“Your heart is so full, you can’t explain Seeking faith and specking words You’d never thought You’d say …”

R.I.P, Whitney.

This year has more blue, soul and pop with big blonde hair, talented, young and very classic British accent – Adele.

The music of Adele is so much impressed by everyone is most likely because of the emotion that she could bring, and anyone could feel the same as the arrangement of the melody, and the most important element of a song, the lyrics.
“Someone Like You” as the freshest Best Pop Solo Performance winning song from the 53th Grammy Awards is the best example; which indicates perfectly the personality of Adele. The plain piano melody draws the individualism, persistence of her songs and characters – “nothing compares, no worries or cares; regrets and mistakes’ they’re memories made; who would have know how bittersweet this would taste”. the process to be famous and known is the time a person is being lonely and hopeless like, since there are more and more temptation. At one time, people love you, care you, as you’re the only one, but sometimes it just lasts in love, sometimes it hurts instead.

A song to describe herself on the road to the mountain high, a song to describe her love to the ocean deep.

Adele, won the Best Pop Solo Performance “Someone Like You” at 53th Grammy Awards

Don’t miss any of these!

Many people are talking about two different music performers recently – Irish Pop Group – Westlife and the most crazy and weird, but very creative pop icon in millennium – Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga, we will meet later. Let’s talk with the guys first!

Westlife the Irish Boy Group is having their farewell tour around the world after 14 years hard work and great memorable songs. Shane, Kian, Nick and Mark (Bryan left the band) gather again since September 2011, and bring the finale to the HK fans, many remarkable lyrics, videos, faces, memories, experiences.

“Swear it again” as their first single, it is always the hot pick for every couples. The time they had their first concert in Hong Kong was the moment that I became very fanatic – I sneaked to hide in the backroom at the hotel where they stayed. I just poped up and asked for photos, autographys. One thing I felt so happy was, Kian @ Westlife and Nick @ Westlife refused the advice from the security, and warned them not to kick me out. It’s like the song here by Westlife “I Have a Dream” – I have a dream, a song to sing to help me cope with anything… I believe in angel, when I know the time is right for me, I cross the street, I have a dream”.

This was the dream I had, I believed that was the time for me to see them in person. It’s not fairytale, I really met them in person. LOLZZZZ

Pick a Picth You Like

Standard

Things happened with a rooted reason. If you like something, you should be able to explain why you like it. I picked my “pitch” (as I actually replaced it for “music”) from a cassette tapped  “2 Become 1” by Spice Girls.

“Spice Girls”, the debut album, released in 1996

They were based on Britian and became the most famous girls’ group among the Europe since 1994. “2 Become 1” is not a very “healthy” one, well at least not to the 11-year-old me back to the 90s, but the melody is easy and friendly with the memorable lyrics.

You do not really need to know what the song is telling you, but at least, you need the feeling from the song first. And this is how you are going to figure out what kind of the pitches you like, or you could see more further after. Like I did, my list now does not have the Spice Girls anymore, but full of R & B, and something extremely opposite – Country.

So, that’s very interesting. What you learn from school may not be your profession, and your own pitch the same, listen more, feel more, understand more. Take a tour to this, and you may find your own piece.
