Soundtrack

Standard

The best way to find your type of music is listening to the soundtracks. A movie usually needs different types of music for different scenes. So there will be some slow one, so rocks one, romantic one, or just for intermissions etc. “Twilight”  series has a various of choice, and definitely for R&B, Urban and Hip hop, we can find them from all “Step Up” series; modern and pop like “Sex and the City” series, seasonal but also warm and harmony one, can be found from “Love Actually” etc. I guess the most smach hit recent years is the theme song by Hugh Grant and Drew Berrymore from the movie “Music and Lyrics” – “Way Back into Love”.

Taylor Momsen as Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl

Taylor Momsen as Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl

Taylor Momsen at The Pretty Reckless Live Tour

Some stars found from TV dramas are surprisingly rhe song writers with records released. I accientally discovered Little J from “Gossip Girl” , starring Taylor Momsen is a very young kid doing her own type of rock music. And her voice is very alike to the Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. She is actaully in a band as The Pretty Reckless, with latest single released “Male me wanna die“. Although her music is not my type, and slight little too out of my range, I still would sell it to some of you who like the side tracks.

Candice Accola outaide Vampire Diaries

Candice Accola as Caroline Forbes, a vampire in Vampire Diaries

“Vampire’s Diaries“, Candice Accola. Her music nature is also pop and rock; sometimes comfortable, containing some girlish senses. I am kind of weird that I could guess how Candice sings before I listen to her songs. I guess from her voice in the drama, and eventually, yes, that is how she sings.

Dream Come True at London

This is a very touching concert ever, Adele live at Roayl Albert Hall. I cried for most of the songs, and that was so ridiculous. Album version may have some arrangements afterwards, which make all become so perfect; but her voice is so perfect. She is young, but her music is very experienced. And every breathe she took and the lyrics she sang is heartshaking, I felt the same pain of some of songs which she wrote it when she was down. “Someone Like You“, yes as always my top favorite, but I need to recommend you “I can’t make you love me“, “Set to Fire the Rain” and “Turning Table”.

Quick share – 90’s World of Boyband

Standard

Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean (Fromt left to right)

Going back to the early 90’s, boybands becam the hottest issue. Singers appeared in groups like my favorite Backstreet Boys, formed in 1993, and officially introduced in Florida, US. “We’ve Got It Going On” was their first ever single. They did not get a quick success in their home country, but among the Europe and Asia. They came to be the top number one boyband after they returned to their home.  The band had not received the first success which encouraged the band to be more hard-working in their home country market.

In 1999, “Millennium” the third album made them a huge reward after; not only the number of the No. 1s on the Billboard, but a real stardom to their band, let’s check out the music video of the 1st single of “Millennium” as “I Want It That Way“.

Kevin Richardson, the eldest member left the band for his own pursuit 3 years after another member AJ McLean came to public for his drug abuse problem in 2003. “Never Gone” was the last album that Kevin involved. Take a look at the 1st single “Incomplete” of ““Never Gone”.

But the band always welcome Kevin to return.

Meaning

Standard

We always hear the competitors from a singing contest saying that why they like to sing this song or that song with this and that reasons. It’s true, I perfectly agree as, songs write people’s thoughts. Topics are numerous,

– Man got crush on woman

– Woman got crush on man

– Man ask a woman out

– Woman ask a man out

– Tell you how much I love you

– Tell you how much I don’t love you

-Flirting

– Break up

– After break up

– Regret to break up with you

– You deserve to be broken up with

– Commeting how bad an ex-boyfriend/ ex-husband was

– Commenting how bad an ex-girlfriend/ ex-wife was

– Proposing

– How difficult my life is to live without/ with you

– How good my life is to live without/ with you

– A tribute to someone alive/ someone dead

– Dream a dream

– Thanks to her or him or them or you

– Encouraging

– Politics

– Sarcastic to anything

– To family

– Express one-self feeling to anything

– Tell a secret

– Apology to someone

etc.

There are always some meanings delivering to the audiences, and a song becoming popular is always due to the soul of the song, which is meaning of it. For few times I have been to some weddings, and the couples loved playing the songs in very soft melody, or some songs they like; but sometimes, I could not keep laughing, because some specially-selected songs are definitely not the right ones. The common case happens to Kelly Clarkson 4th single “Because of You” from her 2nd album “Breakaway“. People just like the power of the song, and the way Clarkson sang, but the meaning of the song is totally neglected. Couples should  never play this song to their weddings. “Because of You“, was written by Clarkson when she was only 16 to heal her unsteady emotions with her father. It never ever meant to be a song about “because of you, I live better” or “because of you, I devote for you”. The music video indicates the actual background of the song quite clear, and encourage people to think of others’ feeling seriously; and do not do anything hurting the family.

If you really want to do music or pick a song expressing yourself completely, rap music tends to fit all the topics above. And usually, this is how Rap music is like; say whatever you want – good or bad. Just shoot. Sarcastic to the music industry, famous work – Eminem “The Real Slim Shady“, “Without Me

Another one talks about the country, “Zombie” by The Cranberries in 1994

Commenting the violence in Northern Ireland and complainning the death of two innocent kids under the guns.

This is my favorite one, very encouraging; it makes me cry. They can say, anything they want to say, “Can’t take that away” (Theme) by Mariah Carey in 1999

Don’t get the song wrong, listen to them, feel it.

Farewell Tour, Hong Kong – Westlife 3 Mar, 2012

Standard

Fans of Westlife are saying goodbye with the group tonight, for their music contribution and so many love songs ever. Another group memory is lasting to all the fans. Not really allowed to do the video-taping, but just a little short live sharing should not be a problem. Yea? Not a veryl close seat to the stage, but still, please enjoy the atmosphere!

Remark 1: This post was supposed to be posted by the mobile application, using the video function on the application, but it seems the size of the video is too big. Youtube becomes the best tool again =)!

Remark 2: L’Arc-en-Ciel the rock band from Japan had a concert on the same place and same night as well!

Lady Gagallery

Standard

ICAC takes action to investigate the huge lot of Lady Gaga’s concert tickets. Three-day concerts’ tickets are sold out. I did try few times at HK Ticketing, but for most of the time, like in that one hour after 10 am, I received a boring navy background with white wordings – system busy.

Friends asked me if I really like her that much. Well, I don’t dislike her, but she is very creative and talented. No matter how gross that raw beef gown was, but she dared to try, took the challenge. Like the egg costume, she made the news.

Her music may be, for some people is a copycat from Madonna, becoming a new pop queen; but she is telling us – if you want it successful,  please dare to try.

Quick Share – Count on You, Bruno Mars

Standard

Just downloaded the application of WordPress, then gave it a try. This is just a quick post, hope it is not so bad.

I am now listening “Count on me” by Bruno Mars. This Putero Rican- Filipino mixed singer was one of the top nominees with Adele in the Grammys, likewise, shared the most views from men, like “Grenade”.

I personally like the melody, which the arrangment is very similar to “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele – quiet with the opening, expressing thw most memorable feeling, then getting to the point, and the feeling is getting stronger and powerful. Certainly the melody is very mysteric like, that richens the dark side of the feeling and makes the whole song very narrative – opening, process, end.

Something funny happens to this song is about the lyrics. It is perfect to apply either man to woman or woman to man. Relationships do like a grenade, I can’t agree no more.

Don’t miss any of these!

Many people are talking about two different music performers recently – Irish Pop Group – Westlife and the most crazy and weird, but very creative pop icon in millennium – Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga, we will meet later. Let’s talk with the guys first!

Westlife the Irish Boy Group is having their farewell tour around the world after 14 years hard work and great memorable songs. Shane, Kian, Nick and Mark (Bryan left the band) gather again since September 2011, and bring the finale to the HK fans, many remarkable lyrics, videos, faces, memories, experiences.

“Swear it again” as their first single, it is always the hot pick for every couples. The time they had their first concert in Hong Kong was the moment that I became very fanatic – I sneaked to hide in the backroom at the hotel where they stayed. I just poped up and asked for photos, autographys. One thing I felt so happy was, Kian @ Westlife and Nick @ Westlife refused the advice from the security, and warned them not to kick me out. It’s like the song here by Westlife “I Have a Dream” – I have a dream, a song to sing to help me cope with anything… I believe in angel, when I know the time is right for me, I cross the street, I have a dream”.

This was the dream I had, I believed that was the time for me to see them in person. It’s not fairytale, I really met them in person. LOLZZZZ
